Tim Roth signs holding pact with 20th TV

Roth Former "Lie to Me" star Tim Roth may be headed back to primetime courtesy of the studio that delivered his series to Fox.Twentieth Century Fox Television signed actor to a combo talent and development deal for TV, the studio announced Tuesday.Pact calls for 20th to find another series vehicle for the Brit thesp, who may end up creating said vehicle himself though he could produce something in which he wouldn't star. A Roth-fronted project could be for broadcast or cable.The agreement does not cover film, where Roth is free to find work outside the studio.Twentieth TV chairman Dana Walden cited her experience with Roth on "Lie" as an impetus for the deal. "He was very creatively involved in the direction of that show, with good ideas about stories and character," she said.Roth starred on three seasons of "Lie," which began in 2009. He also served as a producer on the drama series.Some development component is fairly standard in studio talent deals as an incentive to retain their exclusive acting services. Janet Jackson, Lady Antebellum Cancel Indiana State Fair Performances, Maroon 5 Plan Benefit Show

There will be no Janet Jackson or Lady Antebellum concerts at the Indiana State Fair this week. A third concert, Thursday's double bill featuring Maroon 5 and Train, will go on but a new location will be announced tomorrow, fair spokesman Andy Klotz said. Before the announcement was made in Indiana, Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine told Billboard.com on Monday that he had at least some reservations about playing a rock concert at the fair so soon after the tragedy. "It just doesn't seem like the right sort of atmosphere, y'know?," he noted. "It'll probably take some time to heal. It's such a tragedy." The incident occurred 30 minutes after Sara Bareilles' set and just moments before Sugarland was scheduled to perform. The company that erected the stage, Mid-America Sound Corp., released a statement as well saying they were launching an internal investigation "to understand, to the best of our ability, what happened." Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland told the AP in a statement that she was "so moved" by the events and the reaction of fans in the stands. "Moved by the grief of those families who lost loved ones. Moved by the pain of those who were injured and the fear of their families. Moved by the great heroism as I watched so many brave Indianapolis fans actually run toward the stage to try and help lift and rescue those injured. If you thought the Bard was all about hey-nonny-nonny'ing in forests or irresponsible balcony climbs, it's probably time to think again. Fiennes has jolted the great Bard's play from its Ancient Roman setting and into a fictional modern-day republic. As General Coriolanus, he's pressured to join the Roman Senate by his controlling mother Volumnia (Vanessa Redgrave), but finds himself banished from the city in disgrace when his fellow politicians conspire against him. Click here to watch it in full. To regain power, Coriolanus must team up with his sworn enemy, Gerard Butler's Tullus Aufidius, because he controls the Volscian army, and, well, he's Gerard Butler. Updating Shakespeare's histories to a modern context is a tricky business and a bold call for a debut feature - even for someone as well versed as Fiennes - but this look like it could be a more than worthy rival to Richard Loncraine's excellent Richard III.
